November 15 – 18, 2025
Guesthouse “Saules Villa,” Aizupe, Vāne Parish, Tukums Municipality
If we stay open to what is happening in the world, it often feels as though we are living in a time of ever-increasing chaos. Uncertainty and restlessness seem to grow without end, sometimes even pushing us to the edge of our own sanity. How can we remain balanced in such a world? Is it truly possible to find peace in the midst of turmoil? If so, where — and how? Can meditation offer a way forward?
During this retreat, we will explore these questions together. Although the world may seem vastly different from the time when the Buddha walked the earth, the truths he discovered and the path to peace and happiness he shared remain just as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago.
Let us walk this Path together and open ourselves to the possibility of discovering — or rediscovering — the undisturbed peace that is always within reach.
Ayya Piyadassī is a Lithuanian Theravāda Buddhist nun, practicing meditation since 2007 and ordained in Myanmar in 2013 under Ven. Pa Auk Sayadaw. She holds a master’s degree in Buddhism and Pāli Studies and has trained in Myanmar with respected meditation and Abhidhamma teachers. Since 2021 she has been sharing the Dhamma through Alokos centras in Klaipėda and retreats in the region. In 2024 she deepened her training in Thailand with her teacher Luangta Narongsak. Now, with his support, she is nurturing and developing a Theravāda Buddhist community in her home country.
The retreat will be conducted in the traditional Theravāda Buddhist form — separated from daily distractions and observing the Noble silence. All participants:
● must observe the Noble Silence, i.e., refrain from any form of communication with others (speaking, whispering, gestures, etc.). This rule does not apply to necessary communication with the teacher or retreat organizers. Refraining from conversation protects your own and other participants’ meditation practice from unnecessary disturbances and supports inner peace.
● must remain at the retreat venue until the end of the retreat.
● must follow the retreat schedule.
● must refrain from using mobile phones and similar devices. Devices should be handed over to the retreat organizers for the duration of the retreat.
● must avoid revealing or body-shaping clothing and perfumes; it is recommended to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that cover the shoulders and knees.
● must follow the 8 behavioral guidelines or precepts:
1. Not intentionally taking the life of any living being.
2. Not taking what is not given or does not belong to you.
3. Refraining from any sexual activity.
4. Refraining from lying or malicious speech (during the retreat — Noble Silence).
5. Refraining from intoxicating drinks or substances.
6. Refraining from eating after noon.
7. Refraining from entertainment, listening to music, or adorning oneself.
8. Refraining from excessive sleep.
These rules, especially observing the Noble Silence, are an essential part of the retreat, helping to calm the mind, increase awareness, and experience the “here and now.” Therefore, participants are encouraged to be kind to themselves and fellow meditators and to follow these guidelines.
